The Harnett County Detention center is made up of a one story structure built of concrete and steel. There are 84 beds broken down into four cell blocks. Two blocks consist of 20 bed, four man cells and the other two blocks are single cells made up of eleven beds. We have six isolations cells and eight more cells to house the female population.

This facility is a twenty-four hour a day, seven day a week operation. We have a staff of twenty full time detention officers and seven part time detention officers. We have a kitchen that is staffed with five cooks who prepare three hot meals a day, seven days a week. We also have on site a medical unit that is comprised of two nurses who see to the medical needs of those being detained. There are two transportation officers who transfer people to and from court and to other parts of the state for various reasons.

The Detention center houses all persons arrested in Harnett County. Those persons who cannot post bond are detained in the center until they go to court or make bond.
