The Crime Scene Investigations division is made up of four detectives with specialized training in the collection and preservation of evidence. They are responsible for the collection, preservation, identification, and storage of evidence. Crime Scene Investigators respond to scenes of crimes committed in Harnett County and process that scene for any evidence that may lead to the identification, apprehension, and prosecution of those resonsible for committing the crime. This is accomplished by first documenting the crime scene through the use of photography, measurements and sketching. Crime Scene Investigators then process the scene for fingerprints, foot or shoe impressions, collection of trace evidence to include bodily fluids, body hair, fibers, and any other evidence that may be of value to the determination of suspects in a given case.
